Pet Portraits and Paintings by Lorna Dredger

Commissioned horse and dog portraits in pencil or pastel
Commissioned portraits make a unique and unusual Birthday gift, Christmas or Anniversary present, or a gift to mark a milestone, such as graduation, wedding, competition or a sporting events win. A portrait is an ideal tribute to loved one or memorial to a lost pet. Present a painting to your family and friends as an heirloom. The artist can tailor your painting to suit your requirements, from a head study, to a full and complex scene with several subjects.
Satisfied Customers
Lorna has produced commissioned paintings and portraits for many satisfied customers, many of whom return for further artworks of new pet additions to their families. Lorna understands the charm and joy these important family members give and can portray this in her work.

My interests in art and design were established in childhood. My father’s profession as an architect and my mother’s talent for oil painting were major artistic influences for me.
After leaving school, I studied window display and art history, and some graphic design. I qualified as a Window Dresser and continued to paint as a hobby, painting people, still life and animals for many years until it eventually became my career.
I specialise mainly in painting horses, dogs and cats; owning these pets in the past has given me a greater insight and knowledge of their anatomy, conformation and different character types. Having been involved in competition dressage, I understand the importance of engagement, outline and forwardness which gives a horse it’s character and gracefulness.
Horse owners
Horse owners and enthusiasts will know that the depiction of correct conformation and saddlery are an extremely important element in horse art.
Lorna has the the knowledge and insight (particularly dressage) to ensure these details are as accurate as possible. (see Artist’s Statement).
